Joy Ride de Bob James - 1999
On 8/24/99, one of the living legends of Contemporary Jazz, pianist and keyboardist Bob James, presented us Joy Ride, a  production with Chuck Loeb, Paul Brown, Michael Hill and Dave McMurray on Warner Bros.

Bob James al piano, Dave McMurray en el Saxo y Chuck Loeb en la guitarra, durante la presentación de Joy Ride en Sculler'sThis new CD contains 12 songs in which Bob James can be found playing classical piano and the Fender Rhodes, an instrument that was made famous in the 70's. Joy Ride is an All Star CD, since there are some great musicians
collaborating with Bob. Beginning with guitarist Chuck Loeb, who not only
plays guitar on the album, but who was also involved in the production and
composition of several of the songs, as was saxophonist Dave McMurray. Both Chuck Loeb and Dave McMurray toured with Bob in promotion of this CD.

Personally I consider "Raise the Roof" one of the best songs on the CD, where Bob James Boney James takes control of the unmistakable tonality of the tenor sax. This song, with " What's up " have been the most played songs of the CD. Another interesting tune is "Fly By", produced by Harvey Mason Jr. which he co-wrote with his father, Fourplay member Harvey Mason. They play the drums and keyboards in this song

Bob James y José A. Pacheco de JazzContemporaneo.com Joy Ride was nominated for a 2000 Grammy Award in the Contemporary Jazz category . Unfortunately, it did not win the Grammy, but nevertheless, is a CD worth considering when buying good music.
